Our Year 2 students created a shared artwork in response to the book A Leaf Called Grief. They were drawn to how the story used the seasons to show the changes in life. Together, they explored how leaves change through the seasons and talked about how, just like the bear in the story, life can sometimes feel happy and sometimes sad. But they discovered that the love of family and friends can help us through those times.
For their artwork, the students used oil pastel to create the seasons and placed leaves to represent change. At the top, they grew love hearts, each with the names of people who love them. Finally, they took the hearts and gave them to those special people. Their big question was: Who helps you through the seasons of life?
