The most striking element of this book for Year 3 students at RPPS were the details in the illustrations- beginning and ending with the endpapers. One student commented that their favourite part of the story was when ‘Sadie gave the old lady a new reason to keep living.’ As a creative response, students who voted for The Garden of Broken Things gave new life to pieces of broken tile to make new garden ornaments.
