After reading, One Little Dung Beetle, we went on a nature walk in our school yard to find interesting natural objects that we could use to create our nature-inspired clay beetles. We used the end pages of the book to look carefully at the shape and body parts of the beetles. In a group, we sculpted a beetle out of the clay and used leaves, sticks, gum nuts and seeds to decorate our beetles. We also created a word cloud using all the new vocabulary and beetle names that we learnt in the book.
