SACS Superstars have met every week since the beginning of Term 2 to discuss the books Shortlisted in the Younger Readers Category.
There has always been great discussion about the likes and dislikes of each book, about characters and plot, but particularly about setting.
We really enjoyed reading more about the town that inspired Scar Town and how the story came about.
When thinking about a creative response we wanted to use the idea behind ‘Being Jimmy Baxter’s” front cover – the idea of choosing ‘icons’ to represent the story. Unfortunately, we were not able to find a suitable white van but we’re pretty happy with how our diorama turned out, especially the hand made bones!
