We enjoyed reading and talking about both “A Leaf called Grief” and “These Long Loved Things” during one session. We especially liked the shadow illustrations of Bear’s lost family in “A Leaf called Grief” showing their care. Then how the seasons passing made Bear feel better until he could let go of leaf but the love from his family would always remain. We thought the words in “These Long Loved Things” were beautiful and we read them aloud several times. We decided the words showed why Josh Pyke wrote lyrics for music as they were very poetic. We made photo frames to give to special family members as it suited both books and we played Josh Pyke music as we made them.
