Our group of Year 2 students were drawn to the characters in the book Grace and Mr Milligan. They particularly loved how Grace was such a beautiful, patient and encouraging friend. They were inspired to be encouraging friends themselves and wanted to encourage their teachers. They decided to invite their teachers to a picnic under an apple tree, just like Grace did in the story. They created a tree in the classroom and wrote encouraging words on the apples. The teachers were able to pick an apple and keep it as a reminder of how special they are to the students.
